Film Cap

  • Film capacitor is a metal foil electrode, it and polyethyl ester, polypropylene, polystyrene or polycarbonate plastic film, overlapping from both ends, wound into a cylindrical structure of capacitors. According to the type of plastic film, it is respectively called polyethyl ester capacitor (also known as Mylar capacitor), polypropylene capacitor (also known as PP capacitor), polystyrene capacitor (also known as PS capacitor) and polycarbonate capacitor.

Thin film capacitor is a kind of capacitor with excellent performance because of its many excellent characteristics. Its main characteristics are as follows: non-polarity, high insulation impedance, excellent frequency characteristics (wide frequency response), and low dielectric loss. Based on the above advantages, film capacitors are widely used in analog circuits. Especially in the part of signal interconnection, capacitors with good frequency characteristics and very low medium loss must be used to ensure that the signal is transmitted without too much distortion. Among all the plastic film capacitors, the characteristics of polypropylene (PP) capacitors and polystyrene (PS) capacitors are the most significant, of course, the price of these two capacitors is also relatively high. However, in order to improve the quality of sound, the parts materials used have become more and more advanced, and the price is not the most important consideration, so the frequency and quantity of PP capacitors and PS capacitors used in audio equipment are also increasing.
